Carlos Garcia Merino is Chief Operating Officer at ABL Aviation and a member of the company’s senior leadership team. Since joining ABL Aviation in 2018, he has played a significant role in the firm’s growth from approximately $400 million to more than $8 billion in aviation assets.
His experience spans transaction origination, investor relations, fundraising, operational execution, and strategic development. He has been involved in 29 aircraft transactions totalling approximately $1.2 billion and has supported the expansion of ABL Aviation’s airline relationships from seven to more than 30 globally.
Carlos has also played an active role in ABL Aviation’s Japan strategy and its 25-year partnership with SBI Group, which represents approximately 100 aircraft and $8 billion in assets under management and mandated transactions. He has contributed to the firm’s international expansion across Japan, Hong Kong, Casablanca, and New York, and has led the structuring and capital formation of a $600 million aviation investment fund.
Carlos holds a dual degree in Business Administration and Law from Carlos III University of Madrid and is a graduate of the ISTAT Professional Development Program. In 2026, he won Airline Economics’ 40 Under 40 award.
